What Size Banner Should I Get?

What size banner should I get?

There are three factors that will help you determine what size banner you should get. They are font size, color, and location. We'll go over each factor one at a time to help you pick the right sizing for your banner.

Font Size

This is where pre-planning and design will come into place. This really revolves around how visible you want your banner to be at specific distances. A general rule of thumb is that for every 10 feet of visibility, you want your font size to be 1 inch or higher. So, if you need your banner to be legible from 60 feet away, your font should be at least 6 inches in height. This general rule of thumb is assuming that you have a very straightforward and readable font. If you're using a cursive or very thin font, you'll want to increase the size of your font to maybe 1.5 inches per 10 feet. It really depends on the font.

Color

The colors of your banner can affect the visibility. If you're using tones or shades that are similar and provide no contrast, you're going to need to increase the size of your font and probably overall design. If you're using contrasting colors, then you can stick to the font size recommendation above.

Location

Where exactly is your banner going? Is it going 100 feet in the air? If so, you'll need to consider sizing that ensures that your banner is visible from that distance. Is the location well lit? Is it too well lit? Is there a lot of wind? These should determine not only your design but also the material your banner should be made of. If your banner is going to be competing with the sun, you might want to consider a 20 oz blackout banner. This will ensure that sunlight doesn't pass through the material and obscure your design. If your banner is in a windy area, I would recommend mesh extreme vinyl material. It has tiny holes in it that allow wind to pass through it.

In Conclusion

Hopefully, this helps you determine how big of a banner you need. If you still have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our customer service department.
